Many NIBS members will have met Dr. Mark Crowder, Manchester Met University, from previous conferences. Mark has kindly offered to show NIBS members around his home city of Liverpool, home of the Beatles, Liverpool and Everton Football Clubs, a city rich with personality, history and culture, with many museums and galleries free to visit. This trip will take place on Monday 10 June, meeting at the Wilde Hotel, which is the conference hotel in Manchester at 08:30am, travelling by coach (40 mins) to Liverpool. Be prepared for a lot of walking and a return to the hotel for approx. 17:30hrs.
Beatles: The tour will take in the city centre and delegates have the option to visit The Beatles Story, the largest exhibition in the world of the Beatles, the Liverpool Beatles Museum which houses 300 pieces of genuine Beatles memorabilia, and of course there is the famous Cavan Quarter, which includes the Cavan nightclub and a statue of Eleanor Rigby.
Shopping: Liverpool has a large pedestrianised shopping area, Liverpool 1 is by the waterfront with 170 shops and Grand Central Hall has a collection of independent shops,
Musuems and Art Galleries: There are many museums and art galleries to visit too, visit National Museums Liverpool for information on the rich choice available, also consider visiting the Tate Liverpool.
Costs: We don’t have a cost at the moment and are looking for expressions of interest, costs will be kept to a minimum where possible and delegates are responsible for their own lunch expenses.
