Executive Dean of International Schools (to include Endicott College of International Studies and JW Kim College of Future Studies), Professor Yoo-Taek Lee, extends a warm welcome to all NIBS members to attend the conference in Daejeon, Republic of Korea. This will be the first NIBS Conference in the Republic of Korea, gateway to one of Asia’s most exciting and beautiful cultures.
Woosong University belongs to the Woosong Education Foundation which was established in 1954, located in Daejeon, South Korea and has a long history of outstanding work in education, teaching and training with more than 12,000 students, and 780 professors.
The University has been ranked as an autonomous, top tier university by the Korean Ministry of Education. It currently boasts three international schools: 1) SolBridge International School of Business, 2) Sol International School and 3) Endicott College of International Studies. Education in the International schools is conducted solely in English by renown international professors. In addition, Woosong University has four Korean schools including College of Railroad Transportation, College of Digital Media, College of Hotel and Culinary and College of Health and Welfare. Woosong University is a truly international university, since the establishment of the university in 1995, Woosong University has signed more than 400 Memorandums of Understanding (MOU) with universities and institutions in more than 60 countries.
Location: Daejeon is the 5th largest city in South Korea, with a population of approximately 1.5 million. It is in the centre of Korea and is at the crossroads of national rail and road transport routes, the Gyeongbu railway, Honam railway, Gyeongbu Expressway, and Honam Expressway.
The city has been promoted as a city of science and education centred about Daedeok Science Town, more lately called Daedeok Innopolis. The Daejeon municipal government dubs itself a core city of research and development and the cradle of Korea’s cutting-edge science sector.
More than 200 research institutes, including the research and development facilities of Samsung, LG, Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), are located within Daedeok Science Town in Yuseong-gu on the far outskirts of town, locally referred to as “Daedeok Techno Valley”. This, plus the “Daedeok Innopolis” cluster of KAIST, Chungnam National University and government research institutes lend themselves to the city’s local nickname: the Silicon Valley of Korea.

The price per delegate is €450 for a 3 day conference. Please note flights and hotel accommodation are not included in this price. As always, the conference programme will be packed with engaging and useful sessions, in addition to providing plenty of networking opportunities.

Hotel
The conference hotel will be the Lotte City Hotel, which is situated in the EXPO area of Daejeon, close to the Convention Centre. The LOTTE City Hotel Daejeon opened in March 2014 and has excellent ratings and reviews. We advise you reserve your hotel accommodation as soon as possible. There are two options for booking available, the first is directly with the hotel and the second option is through the hotel booking websites who offer a free cancellation option and deferred payment.

Option 2. Many of the hotel booking sites are able to offer free cancellation policies and favourable rates, so please make a comparison between booking directly with the hotel and with the hotel booking sites before you book.
Visa and entry to Korea
If you have a passport from a recognised “visa-free country” you can enter South Korea as a tourist for up to 90 days without a visa. You must also have an onward or return ticket.
You must be in possession of a Korea Electronic Travel Authorization (K-ETA) to enter Korea visa-free. You should apply for the K-ETA at least 72 hours before boarding your flight and it will be valid for two years from the date of approval. There is a small, non-refundable charge. Travel
Many colleagues will be flying into Incheon International Airport, it is recommended delegates travel by bus to Daejeon (Dong-Bu Bus Terminal Complex), a 3 hour transfer with a short break, after arrival at the bus terminal delegates are advised to get a taxi to the Lotte Hotel. Train option: Take the airport railroad from Incheon International Airport to the Seoul Station (60 mins approx.) and change for the KTX (express train) to Daejeon Station, depending on the train you catch it is just under 1 hour or over). As with arriving at the bus terminal, delegates are advised to get a taxi to the Lotte Hotel.
