Our hosts
We are delighted to announce Sorrell College of Business, Troy University, as the hosts of the NIBS Conference 2025.
Troy University, Alabama, is an international focused university with a 130-year history of developing leaders and changemakers. Troy University has a diverse student body representing more than 60 nations, an extensive study abroad program, 16 Division I athletic teams and more than 150 student organizations.
Conference theme: Cultivating Global Talent
In today’s interconnected work, the ability to navigate global markets and lead diverse teams is essential for business success. This conference unites business schools worldwide to exchange best practices for integrating these skills into the curriculum and providing students with a multifaceted, global skill set needed to thrive in a rapidly changing international landscape. We are honoured to be joined by two esteemed keynote speakers who have a wealth of experience and perspectives on the challenges facing business schools in cultivating future global talent.
Keynote 1: The evolving global landscape: what are the implications for business schools in cultivating global talent?
Dr. Andrew Spicer, Associate Professor of International Business, Sonoco International Business Department at the Darla Moore School of Business, University of South Carolina
Dr. Spicer’s research and teaching focuses on the intersection of business and society in a global economy. His research has examined privatization policies and outcomes in post-communist countries; the effects of national context and identity on managers’ ethical evaluations and behaviors; the processes that lead to the spread of corrupt business practices across regions and companies; the perils and promises of entrepreneurship in the context of deep poverty; and the long-term evolution of corporate sustainability programs and strategies.
He has published articles on these topics in the Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Business & Society, California Management Review, Industrial and Corporate Change, Journal of Business Ethics, Organization & Environment, Research Policy, Strategic Organizations and the Strategic Management Journal. Since January 2020, he has served as a co-editor of the journal Business & Society.
Keynote 2: Cultivating Global Talent – an employer’s perspective
Kathryn Hornsby, Culverhouse College of Business
Kathryn Hornsby is a seasoned professional with a distinguished career in finance and a strong commitment to community service. She spent 33 years at Citi in New York City, retiring in 2013 as a Managing Director and Global Head of Client Experience Readiness in Treasury and Trade Solutions. During her time at Citi, she held global leadership roles and spent 10 years overseas in Africa and Europe. Since 2005, Kathryn has been actively involved with the Culverhouse College of Business, serving in various capacities, including Executive-in-Residence and a member of the Board of Visitors. She has also been a leader in the Tuscaloosa community, notably as President of the Tuscaloosa Tennis Association (TTA) where she oversaw significant growth and the establishment of charitable initiatives. Under her leadership, TTA received numerous awards including USTA Southern’s Member Organization of the Year and Kathryn herself was named Alabama’s Volunteer of the Year. Kathryn is a member of the University of Alabama’s Women of the Capstone and the Tuscaloosa Parks and Recreation Foundation Board, a USTA Southern Foundation Trustee and a USTA Alabama Board member.

We know NIBS members play an invaluable role in their own institutions and every year we hear of numerous creative projects which impact positively on their students and home university.
